Games Learn how to play and teach a variety of different types of games to girls of all ages and different group sizes. Have fun playing the games and teaching new games to others. Learn how to put together a games bag so you will always be prepared. We will learn about games that are active, quiet, cooperative, games with a purpose, games from other countries, and other types of games.
Yellow Songbook Session Singing is a tradition in Girl Scouts. Learn many songs for girls of all ages both from the yellow songbook and other resources. We will sing songs with motions, traditional songs, silly songs, and songs that can be played with games. Yellow songbooks will be available (approx. $2) and the CD set for the yellow songbook will be available for $1 if you need it. Bring a tape recorder if you'd like to record the tunes and/or a video camera to record the action songs.
Pax Lodge Songbook Session This session will be led by one of the compilers of this book and the producer of the Pax Lodge Songbook CD. Included in this songbook you will find over 150 songs for Girl Scouts of all ages. There are many songs not previously published which are well known including "Magic" and "On My Honor." Each participant will receive a copy of the songbook at the training and may have it signed by the instructor. CDs will be available for purchase at the session. Bring a tape recorder if you'd like to record the tunes and/or a video camera to record the action songs.
Planning Large Events This training is for anyone planning a large event like a Service Unit Thinking Day, an activity day for Daisies or a badge workshop for Juniors. The course includes: Recruiting a committee, budgeting, site selection, publicity, Council documentation, managing large numbers of people, and program ideas.
Creative Ceremonies Learn how to create a memorable experience to celebrate special events with your troop. From selecting a theme to planning the details we’ll share ideas for many different types of ceremonies.
Orientation for Short-term volunteers This course is appropriate for volunteers serving in a short-term capacity. It will cover briefly the history of Girl Scouting, Council specific information, Safety-Wise and policies. The course includes a packet of materials to be studied and either an online component or a training session.
Coordinating Parent Assistance From overeager parents to those less involved, come to discuss some of the most common and challenging issues with the parents of your girls. Develop a plan to help coordinate those efforts and get the help you need.
Feeling Safe: Creating an environment free from bullying and harassment. Based on the Feeling Safe research from GSUSA and various experts, we’ll look at the epidemic of bullying in girls and what the leader’s role is in creating a safe environment for all girls. |
